For Schools & Programs
Your students are choosing. Most of them are guessing.
My Signal Path gives every student a 20-minute guided interview and a personalized report that shows them how they're wired — so your counselors can start real conversations instead of starting from scratch.
The Problem You See Every Day
400 students. 30 minutes each.Do the math.
You already know the problem. A junior sits in your office, you ask what they're thinking about after graduation, and they say "I don't know." Or worse — they give you the answer they think you want to hear. Business. Engineering. Nursing. Something safe. Something their parents said.
You don't have two hours to dig into what's really going on with this student. You have 30 minutes if you're lucky, and 200 more behind them. So you do what you can — pull up Naviance, run through the interest inventory, suggest some schools, and hope something sticks.
It's not a counselor problem. It's a tools problem. You're working with assessments that sort students into categories and hand them a list of job titles. That's a starting point. But it's not enough to have a real conversation about where this specific student will actually thrive.
The Tool
What if every student walked into your office already knowing something real about themselves?
My Signal Path is a 20-minute guided interview — not a quiz, not a checklist, not a color-coded assessment. It's 20 open-ended questions designed by a recruiter who spent 30 years figuring out how people are wired. The interview adapts in real time, follows up when something interesting surfaces, and digs deeper than any fixed-choice assessment can.
When the interview is done, the student receives their Signal Snapshot — a 6-8 page personalized report that maps how they naturally think, work, and create value. Where they'll thrive. Where they'll struggle. Specific directions worth exploring. Concrete next steps they can take this week.
That Snapshot becomes the starting point for your conversation. Instead of spending your 30 minutes trying to figure out who this student is, you walk in already knowing. You open the report, point to what resonates, push on what surprises them, and use your expertise to guide what comes next.
The interview does the excavation. You do the interpretation. Your students get both.
How It's Different
Your current assessments sort students into categories. This one listens to them.
Naviance, Xello, YouScience, Holland Code — they all work the same way. Fixed questions. Predetermined categories. A type and a list. My Signal Path works differently because the input is different: open-ended answers, in the student's own words, about their actual experiences. The output isn't a category — it's a portrait.
That's not a replacement for what you already use. It's the layer underneath that makes everything else more useful. A student who understands how they're wired uses Naviance differently. They ask different questions on campus visits. They write a better college essay. They make a more informed choice about what to study and where.
My Signal Path doesn't compete with your existing tools. It makes them work harder.
Implementation
Nothing to install. Nothing to train. Nothing to grade.
01 You purchase access codes for your students.
Buy in bulk at volume pricing. Each student gets a unique access code. No platform accounts, no software installations, no IT department involved.
02 Students complete the interview on their own time.
20 minutes, on any device, from anywhere. Assign it as homework, build it into advisory, or run it during a guidance session. Most students prefer using the mic on their phone and talking their answers. That's encouraged.
03 The Signal Snapshot arrives instantly.
The moment they finish, a 6-8 page personalized report is delivered. No waiting. No staff processing. The student can read it immediately — and so can you.
04 You use it to have better conversations.
Pull up the Snapshot in your next one-on-one with the student. Walk through it together. Ask what surprised them. Push on the sections about where they'll struggle. Share it with parents during conferences — give them something concrete to discuss at home instead of "so have you thought about what you want to do?" The Snapshot becomes the foundation for every conversation that follows.
Where It Fits
Works with what you're already doing.
My Signal Path doesn't require a new program, a new curriculum, or a new committee. It plugs into what's already on your calendar:
Junior or senior advisory. Assign the interview before advisory week. Students arrive with their Snapshot in hand. The conversation starts at a different level.
Counselor one-on-ones. Read the Snapshot before the meeting. You'll know more about how this student operates in 5 minutes of reading than you'd learn in three sessions of conversation.
College application prep. The Snapshot gives students language for their essays, their interviews, and their "why this school" answers. They stop writing what they think admissions wants to hear and start writing what's actually true.
Career exploration and CTE planning. The "Where This Signal Leads" section maps directly to career clusters and pathways — but with specificity that goes far beyond a Holland Code.
Parent conferences. Share the Snapshot with parents. Give them something concrete to talk about at the dinner table besides "so have you thought about what you want to do?"

Here's a partial preview of an actual Signal Snapshot from a high school junior who came in with no plan, no dream career, and no strong academic passion. The kind of student who says "I don't know" — not because he's disengaged, but because nobody's asked him the right questions yet.

Questions
What schools ask.
-
No. Students complete the interview independently. The Signal Snapshot is written in plain language — any counselor can read it and use it in conversation immediately. There's nothing to administer, grade, or interpret. You just read it and start talking.
-
Yes. Student interviews and Snapshots are private. We don't share, sell, or reuse student data. No student names are shared with My Signal Path — access codes are anonymous. The school receives Snapshots only with student consent.
-
Families who purchase directly at $149 receive an additional personal review layer on top of the Snapshot. The school version includes the same AI interview and the same Signal Snapshot at volume pricing — designed for counselors to use as a conversation starter with students and parents. Same interview. Same depth. Different delivery model.
-
Absolutely. I'll send 5 complimentary codes to start — no commitment, no pitch. They expire in 30 days, so have a few students run through it, read their Snapshots, and decide from there. Most schools that pilot end up rolling it out to their full junior class.

Brian Hughes — a professional recruiter with nearly 30 years of experience interviewing thousands of people. He built My Signal Path because the same pattern kept showing up: capable people in the wrong careers because nobody helped them understand how they were wired before they started choosing. Other platforms use fixed-choice assessments to sort students into categories. My Signal Path uses an open-ended guided interview that adapts in real time and builds a personalized report from scratch based on each student's actual answers. No labels, no types. It works alongside your existing program— it's the depth layer underneath.
